Celebrating 150 Years

Posted on

This year our church building celebrates its 150th year. Our Sheet celebrations are an interesting mix of the practical, the historical and the spiritual.

Full details of the celebrations are available in our anniversary program here.

And here are some of the highlights:

Celebration Evensong

Sunday 17th June, 6pm
Popular a capella singers The Free Radicals make a welcome return to
Sheet to lead us in a special Evensong at 6pm on Sunday 17th June.
They have carefully selected music that our Victorian forebears would have known when the church was new. Don’t miss it!

Church History Exhibition

Sunday 1st July 12.30pm – 5pm
Monday 2nd July – Saturday 7th July 10am – 4pm each day

The church is full of unique stories: of the people of Sheet, their baptisms, marriages and funerals; of the building and its furniture, its windows and memorials. Come and discover some of the secrets unearthed from the archives.

Special Service – Rev Peter Ingrams

Sunday 1st July, 11.30 am
A Festival Service on the Village Green with Rev Peter Ingrams, first vicar of Sheet followed by a BBQ and, from 2pm, the Sheet Village Party.

Special Service – Rt Rev Christopher Foster

Sunday 22nd July, 10 am
Anniversary Service with Rt Rev Christopher Foster, Bishop of Portsmouth.
