GCSE Sanity Helper Week 2, Day 3

Hi Everyone

I hope that your week is going okay and that you are managing to enjoy at least some of the beautiful weather and the fact there are only two more days left before half term! Today’s reflection is a very short piece of music which is simply the word ‘Christ’ sung over and over again. My encouragement for you today is to use this as a way to give yourself some space to pray or just enjoy the music and relax to it what ever you feel comfortable with.

You can listen to it here:

Christ Meditation

Enjoy and as always remember that you are amazing and loved, that you have loads of people behind you supporting you and praying for you and you have got this! I’m sure I’ll see you during the week but if you have anything, in particular, you would like prayer for/chat about I am always around to buy you some sort of smoothy cooler thing from Costa and listen to any anger, stress, confusion or just generally wanting to talk.

If there is any help that you need please do let me know.

GCSE Sanity Helper Week 2 Day 2

Hi Everyone

I hope that so far the start of this week has been kind to you and you are coping with whatever this week has thrown at you. I know that at the moment you are surrounded by messages that say you have to achieve things to be worth something and that what makes you unique is what you do. But frankly that’s rubbish! As Christians we believe that God loves us just as we are and we don’t have to fulfill any kind of criteria to be ‘worth’ anything. But even if you think that it’s not always easy to remember that so this meditation is to help you remember the amazing person that you are.

You can listen to it here:

Unique Being Meditation

Enjoy and as always remember that you are amazing and loved, that you have loads of people behind you supporting you and praying for you and you have got this! I’m sure I’ll see you during the week but if you have anything, in particular, you would like prayer for/chat about I am always around to buy you some sort of smoothy cooler thing from Costa and listen to any anger, stress, confusion or just generally wanting to talk.

GCSE Sanity Helper Week 2

Hi Everyone

I hope that you managed to get some rest and time off over the weekend and you feel a bit more alive as we start the week. As we continue our reflections this one is based on a poem from the bible. For some of you that might sound normal to others that might sound strange but I encourage you to listen to it and use it as a way to give yourself some space today if you aren’t comfortable with the word God when it is used feel free to replace it with the idea of all that the world provides for us.

You can listen to it here:

Green Grass, Peaceful Water Meditation

Enjoy and as always remember that you are amazing and loved, that you have loads of people behind you supporting you and praying for you and you have got this! I’m sure I’ll see you during the week but if you have anything, in particular, you would like prayer for/chat about I am always around to buy you some sort of smoothy cooler thing from Costa and listen to any anger, stress, confusion or just generally wanting to talk.

GCSE Exam Sanity Helper Day 4

Hi Everyone

Apologies that this has gone out later than usual turns out it helps to post messages if you actually click on the post button… 🤦‍♂️

Anyways I hope that the week so far has been okay and you are looking forward to having a couple of days break. As it’s getting near the end of the week I thought I would share another piece of music that helps us relax and focus which is the theme to Jurassic Park but slowed down 1000%.

Sounds like a really dumb idea I know but it actually sounds really good and helps you relax after a long day you can listen to it here.

GCSE Sanity Helper Day 3

Hi Everyone

Once again it’s our next exam sanity helper. It’s the mid-week point and today I wanted to send you something that can be used either to just watch and relax or have on in the background while revising. Some of you will of heard of the Icelandic band Sigur Ros (even if you haven’t you have probably heard some of their music as its used loads in tv and films.) A couple of years ago they decided to drive around the whole of the outside of Iceland and film it with live music. The whole thing which runs 24 hours long (they aren’t really known for doing small projects…) can be watched online and I find that is the sort of thing that is incredible to watch as you listen to the music and watch the amazing Icelandic scenery go past as it helps you slow down and just enjoy some time to rest.

You can see the whole thing in this playlist below or there is a 5 minute timelapse as well (which while more frenetic with slightly less chilled music is still pretty relaxing.)

GCSE Sanity Helper Day 2

Hi Everyone

I hope so far you are feeling like you have a handle on this week and that you are managing to get some rest. To that end today’s reflection is one that I often use to help me to fall asleep at night and is all about focusing more on our body and getting out of our head and all it’s worries. (I don’t know about you but I often find that at the end of the day I just have thoughts going around and around my head.) You can listen to it here and I hope you find it useful today:

Stretching Meditation

As always remember that you are amazing and loved, that you have loads of people behind you supporting you and praying for you and you have got this! I’m sure I’ll see you during the week but if you have anything, in particular, you would like prayer for/chat about I am always around to buy you some sort of smoothy cooler thing from Costa and listen to any anger, stress, confusion or just generally wanting to talk.

GCSE Sanity Helper Day 1

Hi Everyone

It’s that time of year when GCSEs along with SATs and several other exams kick into gear and it can all feel overwhelming. So we are once again sending out daily (on weekdays) reflections to help give you some space in each of the day, to relax and find some peace in the midst of all of this.

Today’s one is very simple its breathing….

Now I know that you all (hopefully) know how to breathe already (if not I have so many questions about how you’ve made it this far) but it’s rare that any of us breathe properly. Did you know we are meant to take about 6-10 breathes a minute and we usually do around 20? That when we focus on our breathing it literally changes our brain chemistry? That in the Bible the Hebrew word for God’s spirit also means breath. Basically breathing is important!

So my encouragement/challenge to you today is to click on the link below that will take you to breathing timer that should work on whatever device you are on and take 10 breaths following its timing. That’s it if you want to do more go for it but try this idea and see how it helps you.

So that’s it for today but as always remember that you are amazing and loved, that you have loads of people behind you supporting you and praying for you and you have got this! I’m sure I’ll see you during the week but if you have anything, in particular, you would like prayer for/chat about I am always around to buy you some sort of smoothy cooler thing (still don’t understand why people have these) from Costa and listen to any anger, stress, confusion or just generally wanting to talk.

If there is anything we can do please let us know.

Exam Week Sanity Help! – Day 5

“In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” Psalm 4:8

Hi Everyone

Today is the last day of our Exam Week Sanity Help messages (for now if this has been helpful let me know and we can look at doing it again.) Today’s help is a meditation that helps you reflect on the past day/week and find the good in it (even if it feels like there wasn’t any at first.) Again this one is more prayer based but if you are not comfortable about that just focus on the questions being asked and let them help you find the good in the week that’s gone. You can find it here:

Exam Week Sanity Help! – Day 4

“God’s a safe-house for the battered,
a sanctuary during bad times.
The moment you arrive, you relax;
you’re never sorry you knocked.” Psalm 9:9-10

Hi Everyone

Today’s Exam Week Sanity Helper is a song by Ben Harper called I Shall Not Walk Alone. This song helps remind us that we are not going through this alone, we have our friends, family and God around us that we can always turn to when it feels like it’s too much for us. May this song today be a chance for you to find some space, know that you are not alone and reach out to someone if you need help. You can listen to the song here:

Exam Week Sanity Help! – Day 3

“You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.” Psalm 139:15-16

Hi Everyone

Today’s Exam Sanity helper (if you have no idea what I mean by this have a look here) is a meditation that reminds us that we are amazing and well made just the way we are. This one is structured more like a prayer than the last one but if you are not comfortable about that feel free to use it as a piece of poetry (which is what the Bible passage it’s based off was) and just let the questions help you reflect on the week so far. You can find it here:

As always please remember that you are loved, we are praying for you and if you want any more support at all please do get in touch.
