Home Groups

Home groups at Sheet Church exist for fellowship, study and mutual support.  Home groups form a key part of pastoral care and support within the Church.   Every Church member is encouraged to join a Home Group or a supportive Fresh Expression such Oasis.

Each home group has a different character and a different clientele.  Some undertake Bible study and occasional socials, others are much less formal and discussions based.  Similarly, while all home groups meet during weekdays, typically once a week, some groups meet in the afternoon and some in the evening.

During the Covid pandemic, many groups have met fully online and continue so to do, while others have recently resumed face-to-face or hybrid (some attending and others joining online) meetings.

Please do feel free to contact the Home Groups Coordinator for more information or for identification of a home group suited to your circumstances – Just click here. (Currently the coordinator is Bob Slade).

Pastoral Care

The heart of pastoral care embodies our Church’s vision to express our love and care for one another; this is a shared and united ministry. In addition, we have a dedicated pastoral team who are trained to provide pastoral care for all members of the Church community. They come alongside those with pastoral and spiritual needs to listen, support, encourage, befriend and offer prayer. They encourage and nurture people in their relationship with God and those who are searching. They take Communion to those who are housebound and hold monthly Communion services in the local care homes. Two of our members also help with the children, young people and their families, providing pastoral oversight. Our pastoral co-ordinator can be contacted by clicking here.

Alpha

Alpha is an 11 week course which creates a space for a conversation about faith, life and God.

Each week we’ll watch a short video which introduces an aspect of Christianity and then discuss together in a relaxed environment.
