As you may know this year we are once again holding a 24/7 prayer week at church during half term. You find out more general details here but if you haven’t been before for a week the church will be transformed with lots of different craft, reflective activities and spaces for people to come and take part in throughout the whole week day & night. Last year we did one of the overnight sessions and we are going to do the same again this year! Read on to find out more!
Is it really overnight?
Yep we will start at 8pm Wednesday 31st in church and be there until 8am on Thursday 1st June depending on numbers/logistics we may then look at having a cooked breakfast together afterwards but this is still being decided.
But what about this thing called sleep?
Don’t worry that will still happen! The plan is for us to do group activities until 11ish and then have free time to allow people to get sleep or to carry on with different activities if they want to. Everyone will get some sleep though don’t worry about having to stay up the whole time.
About that 12 hours seems like a long time to be praying?
It does doesn’t it? The thing is it won’t at the time we aren’t just going to be sitting there hands together eyes shut kneeling on the floor, though if you want to do that go for it. There are going to be lots of different things to make and do in the church and we are going to do lots of activities together as a group. I have done these overnight sessions before and they always go quicker than you think and are a lot of fun.
Can anyone come?
Because this is a overnight thing we are saying people in year 7 & up can come. Having said that if you are below year 7 but really like the idea get in touch and you can come and join us for some of the evening. This goes for anyone else as well if you like the idea but aren’t sure about staying the night you are more than welcome to come and join us for some of it.
I’m interested and want to come what do I do?
Simple just let me know you want to come so I can start working out numbers. On the day itself you will need to bring yourself (obvs), some kind of sleeping bag/bedding and I recommend a bible and a notebook as well.
I hope that all makes sense I am really excited for this evening and think it is going to be a amazing and really good fun time. If you have any questions about any of this at all please do get in touch and I look forward to seeing you there.
